Since we don't know anything about the internals, it's safe to say the goal was "good enough and certified" vs. "snappy but no guarantees it works correctly 100% of the time". This is an airplane after all, n

I found many dead bumblebees this year and many of them were infected with mites. It seems as if varroa mites have carried viruses from infected honey bees to wild bees and are killing a lot them.

Well a working fusion reactor would render any current power source obsolete anyway. I wasn't necessarily thinking about complete self-sufficiency, just the fact that it might take up to 2½ years to get replacement parts.

But do you have the necessary infrastructure to maintain a nuclear reactor on Mars? As the article points out, the device required significant manpower, had reliability issues and wasn't cost effective. While it'd be relatively si

Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't pretty much all of these issues solved using Blueprint/Prefabs in UE/Unity? Water has a prefab: https://docs.unity3d.com/2019.1/Documentation/Manual/

Let's do a simple calculation, shall we? Wind power is calculated by A * v³ * ρ * η A is the area, e.g. π/2 * r² for horizontal axis designs, ρ is the air density and η is the total system efficiency (limited to <59% and safe

While these are all valid and well thought out arguments, in this particular example, a whole class of problems and bugs were introduced specifically by avoiding simple loops. Not to mention the performance implications. Parallelisation, co

These are orthogonal definitions of trust, though. Trusting the server to perform the operation I asked it to is an entirely different domain than trusting the server with the knowing the input and output data of the operation.

If you like driving you save $8.5/h. If you just use the car for the daily commute, there should be better ways to commute (I know there often aren't, it's just a hypothetical).
