I didn't know FED data that was accessed at the Treasury department contained data on classified nuclear weapons systems. I've also never seen this level of freakout over real breaches like say SolarWind done by APT-29(Cozy Bear)

caching is orthogonal to using or not using ORM. You might opt to have caching with or without ORM in a consistent manner. You can also opt to add read replicas fronted by say pgcat in Postgres case without having separate caching layer.

Hmm Snowflake and Apple are rewriting FoundationDB in Swift. Swift has pretty good dev. ergonomics and good interop with C/C++ so it might find it's niche outside of Apple.
