What would be the ratio of HNers who are Backblaze customers vs those who are AWS customers. I bet Backblaze number is small enough where Backblaze employees on HN can downvote you enough for it to matter.

same :) maybe also relax rules a bit to allow type elision for structs in function calls to get python like keyword args. foo("blah", {option1: true}) would work better than functional options people use now.

It's pretty convenient options for local dev. I am working on a project that has 7 services but they can be bundled into a single binary that has all 7 and NATS packaged in (plus you can spin up multiple instances of the services). Ver

Very good summary of why small projects need to think real hard before jumping onto microservices bandwagon.

You are pretending things like Revolut, Venmo, Zelle etc. do not exist. They are centralized but solve most things an avg. person dislikes about their bank services.

Yep cause the cost of people who can put together a smart contract without major bugs is peanuts :)

It's obviously personal preference but as a technical guy I am always curious what lang. a project is using.

The flaw in your reasoning is that the complexity of the problem is even remotely the same. Most AWS outages are control plane related.

"AWS has fewer outages in one zone alone than the best self-hosted institutions" sure you just call an outage "increased error rate"

a good display is several hundred dollars. Market valuation does not equal to annual sales. A niche notebook like this can be sold at higher premium. The idea would be to offer notebook not the display.

Thats actually a good question given the paper overhead non-accredited investors prob. don't get access to any decent opportunities.

It's orders of magnitude easier to architect modular monolith than to build, test, deploy and manage a distributed system (e.g. microservices).

Paying MS overhead is basically justifiable if you will need to scale your product development team for a single product to some ungodly size so not really applicable to 99.99% of the projects. The original hard constraint of not having a s

It's obvious BS driven by cloud marketing because in monolith case you pay them for way fewer services. In Micro Services case a single client request will generate a number of downstream requests to multiple services driving the cloud
