That's correct. Also see https://github.com/microsoft/GSL , which is a header-only C++ library that implements the Guidelines Support Library as specified by ISO C++. It's extremely useful (especially to get s

Sorry but the source is closed sadly, so I can't share it. I would like to write a blog post someday about some of the patterns I've used though, I think they could be useful to someone.

Yesterday I finished a complex library in C++20, which I wrote "Rust style" by following the ISO C++ guidelines. I used 0 `new`, no smart pointers, all by-value returns, move semantics and STL containers. It literally took a mont

The confusion created by operator overloading is easily solved by tooling. The compiler always knows what a given operator resolves to, and environments like Visual Studio Code with the right plugins can handily highlight what you are actua

True that. On Linux _at least_ you almost always have a way out of issues, because you can pretty much forcefully change, update or modify everything. Windows has too much "magic" nobody outside of Redmond, WA truly understands, s

Yeah, EPYC CPUs kicks ass while Xeons cost an arm and a leg, so I really don't understand how Intel could be selling more server CPUs than AMD right now, unless it is due to some OEM shenanigans (like on laptops)

It's not about people being selfish, at all. It's about basic human behaviour. People don't like when something is taken from them, while they do not feel the same amount of pain when they are forced give up on something they

This isn't that weird. People will always prefer avoiding short-term money losses than a danger they perceive as being "in the future". No one will ever win a referendum about levying taxes, no matter how important or just th

That plan only worked in the US though, and it spectacularly backfired everywhere else, where iMessage is mostly irrelevant. I know a guy that never set up iMessage on his iPhone - when I asked him why he didn't, he just told me he onl

I honestly had issues with audio also on Windows, so I don't think what you are saying is completely true. Even on Windows you play the lottery every time you buy a motherboard or a laptop, and if you lose, you're stuck with a shi

Also I think it's crucial to clarify that in my experience the vast majority of audio troubles on Linux are due to how buggy and shitty (and ubiquitous) Realtek soundcards are. Those integrated cards are junk, and they are buggy like h

Pipewire is replacing PulseAudio and I can finally say, it works great. Pulse was a great idea for its time, but it was poorly written and it took 10 years for it to get to a point it didn't make you wish you could avoid using it.

As I've said in my other post, a penal system that focuses on punishment and not on rehabilitation is not positive for a society, because it doesn't actually help reducing the causes behing crime (and thus stop it from happening),
