I hate how people are desperately trying to embed (C)Python in their programs just to hop on the hype-driven Python bandwagon instead of doing the sane choice and just relying on Lua, which was designed to begin with to do so. Lua is simple

I do understand that, but I'd still like a "common" basic API for those people that just want to transmit data efficiently from point A to point B. If QUIC is harder than TCP, people will just stick to that instead of switchi

We really, REALLY need a "standard" QUIC API, this thing is getting out of hand IMHO.

What UE sorely lacks is a good scripting language. It's clear to me that Tim Sweeney wanted to offer a C#-like experience, but using C++ - IMHO UE failed in any possible way to accomplish that - Epic made a sawed-off shotgun in place o

UE looks cool, it's full of features, but it's also full of warts (especially when you realize how poorly designed and implemented certain parts are, and the huge mess they made with their C++). My major issue with blueprints is t

With xwin you can download a copy of the MSVC sysroot and use it to build Windows applications on Linux. LLVM reimplemented the entire MSVC toolchain and can thus link with MSVC libraries.

I personally gave up on GUI file searching a long ago, it's one thing that sucks everywhere IMHO. I'll take CLI tools like locate or `fd` any day, they are IMHO quicker to use even on Windows.

Rust with rust-analyzer is IMHO very good nowadays, probably on par if not better than the experience with C++ on paid IDEs. The fact Rust grammar is context-free makes writing tools way easier because there's way less room for breakag

It very much depends on how you like to work. If you are very terminal oriented IDEs are actually detrimental to productivity. I'm basically forced to use Rider at work now and I just can't stand it, I hate how it tends to hide cr

VirGL works very well but it sorely misses a Windows driver. It would be a gamechanger, but writing such a driver is probably very complex and a massive PITA, so I understand why no one has done it yet. With modern software such as DXVK, Zi
