I've been reading the NYT since my high school government teacher told me about it. It is far and away the best reporting I know of. I consider myself left-leaning and typically in agreement with the opinion section. Yet the last year

Although WaPo is a great paper, NYT is still worth twice as much to me. There's nothing else like it.

The growth comes from transitioning from a costly model of hiring hundreds of slick guys in suits trying to convince customers to upgrade every year or so, to a simpler model of collecting credit card data and assuming customers are going t

They've announced the majority of cuts involve terminating a few speculative R&D projects and cutting international sales staff. Maya development doesn't seem slow at all. The new UV toolkit in 2018 is pretty great. On the bac

The 2016 layoffs of similar magnitude didn't seem to make a noticeable impact in their software's update cadence. They are a company formed though an old sediment of mergers and acquisitions and I'm not surprised they've

Utterly superficial thought, but how about the name "fastr" for this crate?

I'm thrilled to see how much progress this project is making. The ancient core of Emacs written in C is nearly impossible for a newcomer to understand. Porting it to Rust might make it possible to work on the codebase and feel confide

The upcoming .3 release will support a custom package archive. A lot of the bugginess in Spacemacs is caused by frequently pulling 100+ bleeding-edge MELPA packages.

The idea that net neutrality might not be not a big deal seems to fall on deaf ears here. The notion that maybe Ajit Pai might even be making a decent point is an unspeakable blasphemy.

I love the bandwagon hatred of anyone who suggests ending net neutrality isn't the end of the world! Check out my comment to Jankiel and respond to that instead of screaming that I'm stupid.

1. Net neutrality places severe binding restrictions on how internet service is provided, and by extension who can provide it. (It's expensive to serve up Netflix if you're banned from offering Netflix privileged pipeline status.

Net Neutrality proponents have really gone off the deep end. I'd love to see how they react if the only user-visible changes end up being lower monthly bills.

"Great in theory, lousy in practice" is a misguided saying. What that really means is that the theory itself is lousy. Social safety nets and the correction of market failures in capitalist economies really have nothing to do with

3D-Coat is a fairly fully featured model creation package. It has very good texturing facilities, not as good as Substance or Modo, but very good. Actually the single best feature in 3D-Coat is its UV unwrapping and editing functionality.
