The way I see it, current European conservatism manifests as nationalism, anti immigration, anti Islam, and anti green policy. I looked at French and Dutch conservativd parties and that seems like a fair description. They’re still in suppor

I think if you look at actual class issues such as labor organization, healthcare, housing, public transportation, the adage of all US politicians being consevative stays (mostly) true

Great news. I’d like to see them take down some restrictions for ISM bands experimentation as well. So many consumer devices operate at 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz so there’s a lot to be done there.FWIW I wouldn’t feel bad about doing very low power

Every language has had spelling reforms. Orthographies would certainly be worse if we never had spelling reforms. Some have just worked out better than others

This is why I'm a huge supporter of a radical English spelling reform. With the computational tools and linguistic libraries available, we could truly create an extremely shallow orthographic English language. Learning Spanish and Russ

Just because it’s expensive and low quality doesn’t mean people will stop using it - even if they recognize that. Based on the trends in entertainment over the last 70 years, I’d wager that entertainment will only be filled with more ads wi

Who has an incentive to carry out these DDos attacks? Why would anyone be willing to spend large amounts of money and develop a sophisticated attack against corporate cloud infrastructure? It seems like the only reasonable answer is foreign

You don’t even have to put on real shoes to go downstairs. You can put on slippers. Even in the most dense city, food delivery to the street level is more convenient than walking to the restaurant.

Does anyone know if the FTC or another regulatory agency is able to address these dark patterns? I’m sure we’ve all come across these before, but I’ve not seen them named before like in the article. It’s good to see the specific practices t

Workplace standards. Men work too much and earn too little to support a family and be a present father. Having a child destroys women’s careers and they are stuck at home with a child and an absent husband. These are issues in many countrie

I believe certain it is near impossible to actually measure truly zero resistance. Instead, a sudden drop near Tc, combined with the meissner effect is what confirms superconductivity.

I’ve talked to a lawyer who does govt clearances, and the reality is that clearances are rarely denied for past use of marijuana. Especially if a year or two has passed since last use. Lying during the investigation about your drug use is w

I agree, but these are two separate issues. Clearances can be denied for a variety of reasons. Something being considered a “security risk” is not necessarily related to its legal status.

I’m also failing to see how digit efficiency would be important in DNA. In fact, it seems that a high base system would be more efficient. If you had 80 nucleobases instead of 4, each base pair would contain far more information
