Just because you misunderstood what the article was about does not make it clickbait. The article answers the question in the title in a generalized way and I did not interpret it the way you did on first read.

I believe the main reason for the focus on these earlier decades is due to the openness of both the hardware and software during this time. Manual published by computer manufacturers contained detailed schematics of all the circuits, assemb

Yes but this is not some incredible realization. Cars transport individuals (up to a family) whereas these enormous ships are the backbone of global shipping and commerce. Not to say they can’t run cleaner but this comparison is pointless.

Yes I also run into this! I thought it was just a shoddy HDMI cable but this is the first I'm hearing that it's a wider issue. Fortunately macOS handles the disconnect/connect quickly but it drives me crazy some days trying t

Even with _Generic you can't declare generic functions. You'd still need a macro call that uses _Generic to dispatch different implementations depending on the parameter types.

Those dealings with Sotomayor are obviously sketchy and should not be legal, not sure where in the thread you got the impression that it was being ignored. But unless you are being intentionally dishonest signing a book deal is substantiall

The parent could be referring to Justice Clarence Thomas and his well-documented past of accepting expensive things from Republican billionaires. [1] [2] [1] https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-scotus-un.

The existence of code in otherwise "dumb" toasters is due to it being cheaper than the analog alternative, simple as. I'm not sure why we're talking about all of these things as though they only exist to keep programmers

Is the documentation for your projects all contained within the same repo as the code (and if so what are you using to render/view it) or do you just require an accompanying PR to wherever your docs live?
