As an aside, the Clay Shirky quote ("Institutions will try to preserve the problem to which they are the solution.") was new to me, but puts the RIAA/MPAA pretty much perfectly into perspective. Not really related to the article, but it cl

Same. I really appreciated the little dynamic order-summary text at the bottom of the order form. It includes your shipping city to make the text really friendly and personal. It's probably the first order summary I've actually enjoyed r

A feasible cold-sleep system would solve a lot of these. As it means it matters a lot less how long it takes to get somewhere. I was reading "A Deepness in the Sky" by Vernor Vinge the other day, and his portrayal of that was pretty good.

Altering results (other than to show you the most relevant pages) ruins Google's perceived neutrality. All of a sudden Google becomes liable for showing you something they shouldn't, instead of being a neutral third-party.

Since we're pimping terminal multiplexers, I quite enjoy tmux ( http://tmux.sourceforge.net/ ). I used to use screen, but found tmux to be faster, smoother, and have more logical key-combos (your mileage may vary).

I find green tea or oolong. Basically the only prep is adding hot water so it is easy to refill and keeps me in the zone (and with a warm drink) longer.

What I would love is a fuzzy finder that also did a 'git grep' for the search string too, so I could open files defining a function for example.

Seems like it would take a bit of both. If everyone is at least comfortable enough, no one will violently revolt and risk losing it (Counter-examples?). Conversely, if everyone is impoverished who do you rise up against?
