Institutionalized care for the weaker members of society actually makes productive members more productive. Likewise for social security and state-run unemployment insurances. AI is coming in the form of industry automatization, in a very c

People here seem to think that this is someone's weekend project, not the result of serious engineering from an institute of the Fraunhofer Society (which it is). The spec can be found at https://www.bsi.bund.de/EN/

I'm not rooting for a future where human labor is obsolete. Why would the machines continue to feed us if we're dead weight to the economy?

There are also multiple standards for black and white 2d bar codes. This is backed by the Fraunhofer Society and the German government, and on tracks to become an ISO standard. It will be implemented in scanners (hardware and software).

Not really. The academic field grew tremendously in the mean time, so the comparison is rubbish, but the index isn't. It is defined for an author as the largest number N such that as then have N articles with at least N citations.

You may want to check out my lib, compose-regexp, which serves a similar purpose with a smaller API and weight (< 1KB mingzipped). Named captures can be created with the following helper (with an example that parses strings): impor

Religion is one of the many topics Jesuits teach. To be ordained a Jesuit father one must hold two university diplomas: one in theology, and one in another discipline. I went to a Jesuit high school, and some of the teachers were priests. M

This is addressed in the article. The effect is uniquely found around former Jesuit missions, not Franciscan ones. > The Franciscans helped, too. The mendicant order had been in the area longer than the Jesuits. It wasn’t expelled. But

AFAIK it is not about float perf. LuaJIT uses NaN-tagging to represent Lua values in memory to save space. Float64 numbers can be left alone, and other types are represented as NaN with the pointer bits stashed in the mantissa part of the f
