I'm guessing both 2004 YOLD AND 2024 YOLD were both on slashdot. Perhaps introspect as to why...

Is there a non-schizophrenic version of this article? Nearly impossible to read.

> might just help prevent getting you popped by this sort of crap The ratio of people that actually need this mode to people publicly advocating for it approaches zero very quickly. I'm quite sure no state actor will spend $7 figure

So the thing you alluded to earlier - mossad shoving explosives into just random pagers - was a completely unsubstantiated speculation? About the only collateral damage that I've read about was a child that was sitting on a hamas membe

Is "unhoused" the one for homeless person that doesn't live in a shelter? Or was that "unsheltered"? It does seem that vapid progressives love faux-academic jargon to get double plus good points.

I thought the whole reason this was newsworthy is because Israeli security apparatus managed to intercept Hezbollah new pager shipment? That is, pagers ordered by Hezbollah to be used by Hezbollah members.

Revealed preference. Usage of train travel (public transit in general) goes down with income, and people in the US have an order of magnitude more disposable income versus Russia. The take rate of air conditioning in subsaharan Africa is fa

If you redefine exploding pagers issued strictly to members of the organization you're trying to eliminate as indiscriminate , what does that even leave as disriminate targetting? Feels like an entirely disingenuous line of argument;

Is it that, or hezbollah goes out of their way to not take those pagers on a plane for opsec reasons? The latter would strike me as more likely.

This. All this bullshit about "AI will kill us all" is purely a device to ensure regulatory capture for the largest players, ie the people saying said bullshit. Pretend your meme pic generator is actually a weapon of mass destruct

It's consistent in the sense that people love any angle that removes agency and shifts all responsibility to ephemeral constructs like "big pharma" or "war on drugs". Public flaggelation is not without consequence,

I'm not so sure the thinly veilled preposition there ("big government" is the solution) actually holds on empirical basis - government-enterprise monoliths don't exactly have a great track record with these things.

Public ownership of capital assets has been tried, and tried, and tried... with the same results. You can pretend to ignore the idea originally coined by Aristotle, but you can't will it into reality.
