The market should fix this, but it doesn't appear to be holding these folks to account.

Hopefully the panic continues and we get a lot of extra electricity, ideally via nuclear, wind, solar - and then if AI is a flop at least we get big progress on global warming.

Presumably all hyperscalers who aren't Amazon could be a customer for this? One of them might be enough to keep it viable. See sibling comment on b Google being a customer for presumably the previous generation.

I believe they have other custom silicon beyond TPUs so it wouldn't be crazy to take this in house if Intel really cans it.

Meta is planning to spend $65B+ on capex this year. That's a lot of data centers. Why do they need a tiny bit more from Google?

But that's a supply problem. Create the supply, prices will drop and that bubble and generational wealth challenge begins to heal.

or not spent by the government? I mean, unless this is for some really specific thing that really needs a push, I think there's sort of enough money flowing this way already, today. (5 years ago, again a different story)

It's an integration adventure. This is why much AI is failing in the enterprise. MS Copilot is moderately interesting for data in MS Office, but forget about it accessing 90% of your data that's in other systems.

OK agreed as others have pointed out there if enforcement in other places. I get the sense, but can't quantity the push seems different by state and city. Perhaps the reaction is different as well.

If I was Japan I'd be interested in some of the "one time use" use cases as well given the current geopolitical state of affairs.

Exactly The aggressive raids aren't in Florida or Texas, or even California farm county, they're targeting urban areas, and getting the intended headlines.

There are other avenues, but I think those last tariffs were targeted. Another scenario where executive branch appears to have power, delegated from Congress, to enact tariffs https://www.usitc.gov/press_room/usad.htm

I'm in the US, but I'd be happy if social security ages were pushed out to 75 or 80 but benefits preserved. I'm saving heavily for retirement, but the biggest challenge is figuring out how long you're going to live. If

Both need to happen, and people hate both. The data makes it clear though, taxes are low, spending is high both in comparison to GDP. Any argument you can do one and not the other is insane.

They certainly need to make chips for others to retain the scale needed to make chips. As far as x86 goes, it's not as sexy as GPUs or mobile chips but they're still selling a ton of x86.
