Is the transcription of Macron's speech completely off or am I not understanding what the two shown texts represent?

The comment above referred to the URL before they changed it to command-fu. The previous URL was: https://linuxcommandlibrary.com/basic/oneliners.html

Nitpick but the icon for GIT is actually that of Github. These should be used instead: https://git-scm.com/downloads/logos

IANAL and therefore I would be interested to understand why GPLv3 would be a deterrent for using rsync. Could anyone ELI5?

That is slightly incorrect. There are a bunch of languages in the Russian Federation/Scandinavian Peninsula that are very close to Finnish. Much closer than Hungarian itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finno-Per

Totally agree with your point. Tools that allow great personalization are obviously more prone to generate weird problems unless you know what you're doing™ . Or to quote a famous philosopher "With great power comes great respo

The amount of different completion plugins in Vim is something that I also suffered a bit. I tried many of them (YouCompleteMe, Deoplete, Coc.nvim) but none of them really worked properly. For the moment I mostly code in Python and I settle

Could you elaborate on which one in particular? I've also read the first questions but haven't noticed anything like this.

Do I understand it correctly? Basically, a developer would create new functionalities for the Shopify platform and Shopify will take 10/20% commission depending on the store plan from the developer? I personally would suggest to start

Thanks for the observation. Still I do not understand how would they have extrapolated price per GB when considering an unlimited plan. Can that be that they just took the price of the unlimited plan and assumed that's the price of 1GB

I am wondering how did they get their data especially for Switzerland. Here most of the plans have unlimited GB, so getting the price of a single one is quite tricky. Also, looking at the price for the most expensive one (~50USD) makes me t

Not parent but I have a similar setup. Yes, absolutely. I think storing our owns emails/attachments locally is part of best practices. That is our data and having a safe backup of it is a must.

Not related to the topic: I have Firefox set to block autoplay, nevertheless the video in the middle of this article just play when I scroll down. Is it happening to someone else? How can websites bypass Firefox configuration?

I am also very interested to know their solution to link Helsinki to Stockholm by train. It would be nice also to hear about this project from other sources too. Anyway, having even just a Stockholm-Amsterdam night train would be great. But

I have a 24inches Dell with 16:10 screen ratio. With Sway on Linux it fits very well, especially for the vertical space. It's so bad that they do not produce anymore affordable 16:10 screens...

I would never suggest OpenVPN when there is something like Wireguard. I switched to WG few years ago and the performance boost on a old Raspberry Pi v1 was astonishing since it has much lower requirements wrt to the CPU.

Actually, to my knowledge, the COO is the only one that got fired. The narrative says that he hired the detectives by its own initiative, without informing the CEO or any other members of the board.

Looks like some of the shortcuts are really RSI prone, i.e. ctrl + b + & (where & is shift + 7). Are there any possibilities to have more wrist-friendly shortcuts?

Agree with the comments below. I understand that the tool might be created with statistics-illiterate people in mind as users, but as now it is on the first page of Hacker News page we would expect a bit more details.

I love to see that Purism is progressing a lot with their open smartphone. I look forward to have a 100% Linux phone. Hopefully people who care about privacy, customization and owning their phone will get what they deserve.
