solution is simple: commits get shared privately. distros can build on these private patches. after some point those can be made public (ie commited at upstream)

The best part is: Copilot did not catch the impact/implications of this change in the (automatic) review. Should we continue to keep trusting the AI review provided by Copilot?

AWS has been (blatantly) using Microsoft method of making their way in. Redis, Elasticsearch, whatnot, all follow the same procedure: 1. Here is a managed service. 2. Here is a fork of the managed service where we manage the server (you d

I originally added a different title: Apple is dropping AFP/TimeMachine support in macOS 27. It seems like somehow got overwritten to the original title of the post. Nevertheless, knowing Apple so far, unless _some_ large-enterprise~y

Although TimeCapsule is more than decade old, it serves nicely with TimeMachine (automatic backups). Sad to see that going away permanently for Apple Silicon.

the disposeware is here. maybe we can call it spongeware (similar to software) which is like a kitchen sponge, one uses it several times until it starts to break, just to be replaced with a similar but different one...

maybe not the call itself but the voicemail for example. can it be "extracted"? another point to make it safer would be sharing the "chat" with the lawyer, this way it becomes media of communication

I liked the author's pragmatic take on the stability. Indeed that running bleeding edge now has implications to greater attack surface as the supply-chain attacks getting more and more common. A nice and sincere excerpt from the recent

The best is: You know that you have a major issue when the data (especially ones around commit messages) is empty or noisy. Plus, adding an extra point: When you run git log --oneline --graph and the pattern on the left is more complex than

I don't think co-locating with AWS or any other DC in Middle-East would help in this case. Unless you bring your own missile defence network, you are vulnerable. In the case of if you could bring your own missile-defence-network, then

Agreed that Govt/Military runs on AWS/Azure/whatever. They care about "security" in a "virtual" sense, but I presume soon we'll see requirements like: "Must Have: Missile Defence Perimeter"
