I agree that syntax highlighting is the only thing they should do and I think that hiding technical details will inevitably lead to its own security risks. The same has happened with Microsoft hiding file extensions from users in Windows by

I didn’t really mean like in a new website. What I meant was that I’d salute you if you managed to keep an old document around unchanged for so long. I wouldn’t want to build a new website for IE6. I guess you’ll have a very hard time setti

Why? If your website was IE6-compatible I'd salute you. Drpping support for legacy systems is something that's done too carelessly these days. PS: I admit that it's hard to support IE6 when it's no longer supperted by MS

So I was wrong again. ;-) Just checked the package.json, but it's a static JS dependency that's not transpiled using Webpack.

Yeah, right. I thought I still had jQuery in there and thought about replacing it. But now as I looked at the code I realized that it's already mostly using Vanilla JS.

Okay, these are valid points. I personally tend to choose against switching to LaTeX. But I assume we agree that you shouldn't start with LaTeX right away if not absolutely necessary.

Don't write your text in some TeX dialect. It's not worth it. You can write your text in Markdown and convert it to TeX, DocBook or directly to PDF using Pandoc ( https://pandoc.org ). In my opinion Markdown is much easi

Haven’t almost all browsers always had this feature in the form of “keep until browser is closed” or “delete local data after closing the browser”? At least Firefox and Chrome have it hidden somewhere in the settings.

That has been my strategy lately, but it keeps getting more annoying because of all those cookie banners that now can’t remember to not show up – quite absurd and probably not intended by regulators.

A system that doesn’t collect certain kinds of data also doesn’t need to protect (i.e. secure) it. (Of course it’s impossible to tell that a system hasn’t been manipulated if it’s insecure and that makes the argument bollocks.)

All browsers have been pretty-printing XML for a while. Adding JSON was long overdue. It might not be a core functionality of a browser, but all major browser vendors now accept that browsers are also development tools.

A problem with SemVer I often see is that it's unclear whether a project adheres to it. You just can't assume every project having x.y.z version numbers uses semantic versioning.
