The whole topic of this thread is reading web pages on a PSP. There's a whole universe of devices that perfectly render good old server-side HTML with CSS styling, but can't display a PDF for reasons. Or if they can, it will be an

That might be true, but these ones are not . I can't efficiently read them on my smartphone and have to scroll around a lot. They also show two pages on one, probably to be better printable for some marketing material, but I would nev

I fully agree with all of your points. I just wanted to point out the irony that the manual and other documentation for this "inclusive design" toolkit come as PDFs – the worst choice you can make if you strive for accessibility.

The thing is, in this case, Amazon's business is not about extending ElasticSearch with proprietary features. It's about hosting the OSS product. Had ElasticSearch been under a copyleft license, the only difference would be that E

I also get shades of brown. If you take the mean of any image with many similarly distributed colors, it will be brown. Mean is clearly not the best function for this. It should maybe calculate the dominant color instead.

You introduced "will never" to this argument here. Neither me nor parent comments said that being visible today or in the past has anything to do with being visible in the future. I would argue that science is about a core of what

Isn't this like saying that aliens do not exist, because we never received any signal from them? Of course you can see it like that, but does it really change the probability of their existence? I think there's a difference betwee

This depends on your definition of visible. If you think of visible as some form of light reaching a man-made object, then GPs statement is still true.

But as Perl-compatible regular expressions are available in many other languages, this is not really a reason for learning Perl itself, right? Or am I missing some deeper insight into regexes, because I don't know Perl?

Nice! Didn't know about such a rule. Maybe in legitimate cases, it'd already help if Wikipedia underlined links, so you can see if it's one or multiple links.

Yes, I believe that Wikipedia and its authors never put much thought into SEO. They just think about how to best structure the information and make heavy use of links, which also happens to be a good strategy for SEO. The Google search rank
