This is because it started out as a Google project. There is an internal time-series framework there called Monarch that does the same thing for composing operations.

I resigned from Google and I don't care about any of those perks. You can use money to buy that stuff. I was happy when they left China and will be sad to see them go back. I don't own any GOOG anymore, so via con dios.

At this point the best reason might be the 2020 deprecation. But yes, f-strings are great. Just did a small 2-3 migration last week, wasn't too bad.
