People who want the extra eyeballs at any cost are the reason why we’re in this social media mess.

Not free speech, $8/month speech.

But isn't there value in a student researching and putting their thoughts to (virtual) paper? A lot of this testing is more about the journey than destination, and students are losing these valuable skills by cheating.

Eh I think it’s fine. You work with it for enough years you will have accumulated enough code to quickly bang out new projects. But yeah if you don’t bring your own toolbox it isn’t great.

I built everything with Drupal once upon a time but I got so tired of having to rebuild my theme practically from scratch whenever I needed to upgrade Drupal. This is how WordPress won, the devs didn’t rewrite their APIs whenever they saw s

Sorry, wasn't clear I was referring to Facebook, not Flickr. I just meant I was pining for a photo sharing service with Facebook's network effect.

So free speech only counts when it doesn't affect you personally, got it. I don't think anyone would really care about this had he not made purchasing Twitter all about trying to save us from the evil Twitter censorship demons.

It was so nice, back before you had to worry about being the product. I’d love a simple photo sharing service now that the only thing high-res on Facebook are the ads.

I’ve been with Fastmail for about 20 years, they’re the absolute best. My one gripe is the spam filtering. Plenty of block rules but it can’t be trained terribly well. That or it’s long given up on a mailbox my size.

So Iranian women voted in the govt who implemented the hijab law?

Not a fair comparison. Iranian women never agreed to the hijab law and truckers were perfectly fine with the law against blocking bridges, until they weren't.

Are these superyachts built with defence capabilities? If I were a billionaire I'd be building these to suit my life in some potential Waterworld future.

I miss getting these catalogs! Someone should send out a weekly newsletter of random interesting gadgets linked to online stores where you can buy them, with a layout that perfectly mimics these old catalogs. I'd eat that up.

With a stylesheet you have the styles in one place, with Tailwind you repeat it on every element. Yes components and copy/paste are a thing but I'd be very surprised if you're having to manage less style code with Tailwind.

I'd be very surprised if there are many devs with a deep understanding of CSS using Tailwind.

My best argument against it is whatever the learning curve, you're better served just spending that time learning to write CSS instead.
