That is correct, a minified JS will preserve most of the semantics of the original program. And since the original source can come from any language, how would one know which decompiler to use.

Minified JS (even with single letter variables and all) is still a high level language which is much easier for humans to follow than bytecode. That was only an example of it being a valid concern. I actually love WASM (specially the s-exp

This is a valid concern. Among many things it is much easier to audit higher level code than bytecode.

This is really cool. Usually on HN the top post is some "controversial" contrarian opinion and people always fall for it.

There is also https://www.elementscompiler.com/elements/default.aspx which is a pretty good compiler and webassembly is one of the compile targets.

Does anybody know if this will run on the BBC microbit, and if it does, will it have an advantage over mbed?

I pretty much don't. Although I like to taste a glass of different types of beer when I go to a new region (here in Europe). I have noticed that it does trigger the IBS symptoms roughly 40% of the time. Thanks for the comment. I think

Sounds super interesting. Can you provide a link or a quick list of the things that you eat for your diet. I’m currently having great difficulty sleeping due to IBS.

Happens a lot on articles about non-western civilizations technological advancements. The writers -of this articles- assume that western technology is the best/most advanced (most probably without malice) and the others' are just

Great to see alternatives to emscripten. I’m definitely going to try this one out, I’m especially interested in the smaller size ( compared to emscripten) promised by this tool. And for the people want to do swift to webassembly check out

This is a great book. I read it and helped me a lot. I recommended it to two other people who had upcoming interviews who did not know about algorithms and they got the jobs. So yes your comment is pedantic. If you read the book you will le

The odds are pretty high. A bunch of google "apps" are pretty inefficient. Like every company, Google has a spectrum of good, ok and bad programmers. It seems like they are working hard on making gmail slower every release.

Indeed weird, because the course you mentioned is actually excellent. However, it was designed for people who had (somehow) already seen the subjects in an abstract and unapplied setting (such as a math class at uni). They refresh or refocu

I would pay for the solutions as a book on its own. Solutions are essential for self learning, specially for tricky parts in mathematics i.e writing proofs, probability problems. I think the book “how to prove it” has good examples

I have. It’s great because it’s developed using geometric intuition (a la 3b1b). Just missing probability/stats.

Completely disagree on the "Headfirst books" comment. All the head first books I have read (Java, Design Patterns, Android, C, Ruby) have very high quality content. I have read great books on all these subjects along HFs. i.e. The
