It's interesting to see how their demo video aggressively avoids showing people wearing the thing. They obviously want people to focus on the use cases rather than the social dynamic of wearing a massive cyber-helmet. Yet those social

For what it's worth, I spent last month trying to use RDF tooling (Python bindings, triple stores) for a project recently, and the experience has left me convinced that none of it is workable for an average-size, client-server web appl

I think one basic problem with Firefox OS being a "developer-first" thing is the devices it's being shipped on. Of course, a $33 phone is a very cool thing to be able to do. But as a developer, a lot of my disposable income i

This is one of these HN discussion moments when you, our American friends, just have imagine all of Europe sitting with an open mouth, enjoying the radical feeling of labour law disaster tourism.

The project initially used DocumentCloud, but I guess that's built for scenarios which are a little less horrible than single-page JPEGs coming in via FTP. Tesseract has been working beautifully, we've got the first 1500 documents

well, the idea is to make the simple stuff really simple and keep the complicated stuff around. so if you want to write a JOIN, use SQL or SQLAlchemy's core constructs - both are accessible, neither have been reinvented :)

I'm looking for a nice syntax to implement the other filter types in Python that doesn't amount to rebuilding most of SQLAlchemy. Maybe it's just a question of exposing the existing API of SQLA better.

Love the tool. Since the "Propose it" link doesn't seem to work for me, here's a feature request: can you put the query in the hash fragment so that I can paste this into an email or chat?
