I don't think this was as much of a complaint about the situation a question, so your recommendation doesn't offer much in regards to the question in general. I do understand what you're saying, I just don't think it's really what robbiep w

According to Carmack, it really wasn't that difficult to program around it, which I'm sure made the decision easier. https://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/136614459887202305 https://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/137189212519792640

This was incredibly evident during the election. They're really leading the pack in terms of using newer technologies as more than a tool to draw attention to their articles, but to actually add depth to them.

People also seem to forget how much of Apple's history was spent as a nearly faling tech company. Each little mistake is being reported to the point of saturation and while I think they're worth mentioning, every article seems to be a "begi

I think Apple has always had the tendency to make dumb mistakes, but I will say that I think reporting on it has changed. Remember all of the jokes about "It's not a bug, it's a feature" back when Jobs was there? Apple is by no means immune

Maybe there was a middle ground, but the former title made it seem like CyanogenMod itself was taken offline, and made no mention to the domain itself. I'd say in situations like that it's just better to default to the actual article title.

I'm really sick of people saying that you shouldn't wear a suit to a career fair. I understand the implication those who say it are trying to make, but it just doesn't work out that way. Any career fair I have been to, especially when it's

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The length doesn't seem to cause a problem with the design on mobile, at least on all the devices I have. edit: Maybe you're trying to say that the length makes the article unfriendly to mobile. In that c

You may want to re-read the article as it argues the same (or at least a similar) point that you are.

I don't think the intention of the author in that second statement was to say that design isn't subjective, just that the entire process isn't. I do agree with what you say afterwards and I don't think it was the best way for the author to

If anything, it would be nice just to have the top bar that can redirect back to the comments section of the article along with the submitted title. I tend to go through and click a bunch of links and then go through them in order to avoid

I don't think this is just in the vein of Reddit, but just an interactive experience many expect when using comment forms. There are a few things I wouldn't mind HN grabbing from Reddit (and many more things I want to stay as far away as po

Is there any sort of way to cancel out of making a comment? I wasn't planning on leaving a comment right here but now I actually have something to comment about!

This entire exchange read almost exactly like an exchange from the comic Dilbert, to the point that I still have a bit of a suspicion that it might be.

I don't know which article you're referencing, but we also had brain parasites found in a man who died about 50 miles from me in Indiana. We've basically been told to avoid freshwater lakes and rivers for now.

OCD is a medical condition, not an adjective. Not only that, even if it were an adjective it wouldn't make sense to use it that way.

That's the method I've tended to use, and it's worked great for me. The problem with starting from bootstrap is that it's incredibly well designed for specific purposes, and there's a fear that changing anything is making it worst for the s

Oh, absolutely! I have no doubts that Facebook will always be a step behind the bots, and I don't think anyone feels or even expects otherwise. That's just part of the social networking climate right now, and all major (and even many minor)

Reading the comments on the blog, I can completely understand why commenting wasn't the first thing to be implimented. They probably wouldn't put it this way, but I think they needed time for some of the less desirable user base to flee the

But in the same respect, the fact that real human social activity is much more random is a reason why this should be easier. Bots are inherently pattern based, and while there are bots that could work to maintain fake interactions in order

I do think that last statement depends on how you're looking at each company's products. As often as the debate is set up as "Microsoft v. Apple", they are two different companies that aren't always directly competing. When Apple released t

Thanks for that article! I'd always wondered how AR technologies like "Glass" were going to be able to represent darker colors than what is there, and I guess I should have considered the fact that they won't!
