Karen pretty much means approaching-middle-age white woman, with negative connotations. I don't think the use itself is always racist but it can be.

Literally no one is doing this. I'm not arguing that what you're describing isn' safer -- but seriously, no one is doing this. They could, they definitely could. But everyone who is going to a restaurant in a "mask to

Imagine a logistics system that uses the existing capability of NFTs to give all interested parties a clear and transparent view of ownership transfers, eg factory to container ship to port etc. The data underneath can only be modified by

There are plenty of use cases for NFTs with updating data. Many exist already. Most high quality NFT art project do use IPFS, yes. But that is not the only use case for NFTs

Almost exactly what the parent comment said. I went hiking with some friends in the hills by cupertino, not even far from cell range. But we didn't have service (neither did the car) so we couldn't use the app nor the fob to unl

This is better than the math looks, as the 20% you lose is taxed at your highest marginal rates. Your take home difference is probably closer to 12% which is much more palatable.

The best part about debt deals is that if the company collapses, you can take over all IP as it's the only asset worth anything.

I don't really track this argument. DRM generally exists to make it easier to protect copyright, no? They go hand in hand.

Do you think you would have had a harder time getting that college SWE job if you weren't an active CS student?

Anyone else think using the placement rate from the first half of 2020 is a bit cherry picked? That's right when covid hit and hiring froze eveywhere. Yes it picked back up by the end of the year, but in April 2020 I can only assume

Not always though. A lot of companies have pay bands that nearly overlap. You can be performing well and be near the top of your band, get promoted, and then the raise to near the bottom of the next band is pretty minimal.

Reddit is by far and away the most mismanaged site with hundreds of millions of users. I wonder what the internal politics are like. The leaks have consistently been pretty bad.
