Indeed. From an article here on HN there is a lack of vaapi support on Firefox and I think Chrome in linux. Furthermore there are special profiles(looking at you H264) that only work reliably in software decoders.

The Ethernet cable scissor test success made me laugh :D. We agree on the general weak suitability of http codes to convey application layer status, but I kind of disagree on the 503 because it implies an overload and an internal error, whi

Wow. To equate logic errors with being clueless? You do not need to be clueless to not sanitize input. You just need to forget about it, or incorrectly assume the input is safe, or, basically have a bad day. I make bad assumptions and stupi

The problem of DAG is solved by make very well. So well that it is why people insist on using it. In theory they would have made a good choice. The issue is that "make" made sure to put enough traps so that people with less knowle

I do not do PHP and only have done a bit a long time ago, but I chuckle at the statement that nobody starts any project in PHP, only to find that a huge amount of new sites are wordpress sites, and they are a gateway to PHP. And do not disc

Yeah, those are the hard ones. Worse, time is the essence of a good amount of issues from performance, to startup stabilization to the deadliest of all errors: the race condition.

Nice write up. Just wanted to add that the problem of using simulators or mock is that now you have one extra code base to maintain totalling: the code, the test, and the mock. For mock drivers this can be a quite big task. In the end I ju
