How about 10 average vs 1 great?

54% is maximum and if you have your own company you can optimize that. 76% marginal tax is incorrect. 25% VAT isn’t added on everything. Freelancing in Sweden is definitely a path for becoming wealthy.

But you still need to send around the object that implements the interface, right? That’s “DI”.

It doesn’t make sense to say Rails etc are “Completely unacceptable” without giving a context. How can it be subjective? Memory is also rather arbitrary, why focus on that and not user friendliness? Or even GPU or cache efficiency? “Breakin

Isn’t that the case in a lot of countries, though? Even if you can make more somewhere else, you’re still likely to spend your life in the same way — ie, working “halfway on the road to serfdom”.

Wow, I can’t believe there’s such a harsh and early tax, I must surely be missing something? Why would anyone care about doing a good job? In Sweden you get to keep at least 450 of those 600.

70k is according to my anecdotes low for Stockholm, and not something that I’d expect a senior to accept. Senior front end developers go for about 90k. Becoming a contractor is the way to go if you want decent pay (175k+).

It's probably not worth continuing here, seeing that you're already pretty hostile. But I definitely try to minimize the amount of reading necessary to understand a concept. Ideally, the concept should be such that it's easy

While I do like me some good meta-reasoning, at least I have an argument for shorter function names: Short names are read in O(1) while longer are O(n) (unless the name can be simplified as “the function with the long name”)

This is the crux of the matter. Design patterns are just common structures that have been found useful at some point in some context. Some programming languages have adopted these patterns, adding "native" support for them. If you

So you would rather have a “sortListByName(list)” where the sort algorithm is hard-coded to what field we should compare on rather than a factored approach using the Strategy pattern? “sortList(list, [](const item& i) {return i.name();}

I did this once for a medium complexity task. The quality ended up the same because both developers had good taste. One developer took 2 hours for the job, the other took 2 weeks. And people don’t believe in 10x developers...

That's a lot of orders. It seems like many people are buying a lot of things and I'm just gobsmacked that you can come up with so many things to buy! I mean, I order groceries once a week online, but what are the _things_ that peo

Anecdote: in 6 months I can and have surpassed team members that have been with the team for 6 years. These are bespoke complex systems, but some people don’t advance much (“work to live”?) and I’m a quick learner, partly due to job hopping

The picture you’re painting doesn’t represent reality — there were definitely lock downs (mostly related to elderly care, but also to varying degrees for the general public). People have worked from home since February.
