There's too much to worry about; besides, being efficient isn't an issue when you are a beginner. Better to learn with a language that hides the low-level details so you can focus on actual programming. In other words, I think that you shou

I totally disagree. C is definitely *not a good language to learn to program in. I actually think that programming should be learned the other way around.

Also, you don't really understand a high-level language unless you understand C. (I'm mostly talking about Python and Java here.) If you think of Python lists as dynamic arrays of pointers to void, the world suddenly becomes easier.

I hope aliens know the trick to cheat death, because I'd sure love to see that discovery.

I really don't want to crash this party, but has anyone taken a look at the date of the new? It isn't exactly..."new".

I've thought of this a lot. What if the alien way to show the finger is to blink or something completely normal like that? They would get pissed up fairly quick.

I almost wet myself when I read that. P.S This guy must have seen some really amazing stuff not to be amazed by aliens.

I've been dying to try poliphasic dream for a long time (that's kinda why I asked). Too bad the rest of the world is monophasic :-(

Something there got me thinking... how much do guys at a startup actually sleep? Four hours?

Yes, you should have. Go do your reading :-)

Maybe people should see how much others improved at their extra-curricular activities since they took them. You are not forced to do those (as you are forced to study for some exams or go to work), you do them because you have fun with them

Agree. You guys seem to be mistaking a hacker with the technical guy behind a start up. They are not necessarily the same.

I'm currently using a laptop with Windows XP, because it isn't mine - if it were, it would have some Linux distro. But I do run a virtual machine with Ubuntu installed. Do I count as Linux or Windows?

I didn't quite get it. Does FriendFeed list EVERYTHING you check on the web or do you add stuff manually?
