Not that I don't believe the fine folks at Lockitron, just a question about this Kickstarter-on-your-own-site thing that seems to be catching on. Since this isn't audited by an independent company (like Kickstarter) how do you blindly belie

FWIW, I find it simple enough to add/remove codes as needed. I can see how punching ~15 buttons can be a pain, but I don't find it so.

Why not use a lock with a keycode instead? I don't see a single scenario where Lockitron works better. http://consumer.schlage.com/Products/Pages/category-landing....

Assuming it was acceptable to both parties, why wasn't it possible to add turn-by-turn capability to the existing Google-powered app and ship that instead? Is this something that couldn't have been done without major changes?

That makes sense, but you miss one point - Google isn't the only game in town. Why not contract with Bing, which has it's own mapping app on iOS and use that for iOS 6 (either permanently, or as a stop gap while you perfect your own mapping

The Bing iOS app has transit and good mapping features. I'm surprised folks aren't using that as an alternative.

Google's Play Store ecosystem disallows you to use any other provider but the Android in-app billing via ToS. Likewise, Kindle disallows you from using any other in-app payment mechanism besides their custom in-app SDK. FYI, Kindle apps nee

"Well, I am just glad that Android, Windows Phone and Windows 8 store apps don't have this stupid restriction if you don't use their payment systems." The Android Developer TOS says that any other in-app payment system isn't legal, and grou

File an appeal with the App Review Appeal Board (or whatever it's called). It's pretty simple to do from iTunes Connect. Someone smarter than a robot will look into it and get back to you (my IAP appeal took ~14 days, but they did take prec

How did they fix/change the version string, or did they? I don't see how simply re-released a previously released version would cause affected users to update their binaries. What am I missing?

I think the security thing is BS. It's the ability to run arbitrary background services on Android versus strictly limited background tasks on other platforms that matters here.

They likely did this on Android because it's the easiest platform to developer such a product. On iOS and WP, background apps are severely limited so it makes sense why Android is only platform that gets this.
