Not talking about the manager’s job. Talking about their reports.

The number of people in this subthread who think true bullshit jobs don’t exist because they’re inefficient astonishes me. You’d have to believe that all middle managers were good at allocating effort. Or senior executives for that matter.

First mover. No other service will ever get the opportunity to amass an 87-quadrillion-video catalog to compete with YouTube's.

If being down about your job causes symptoms of depression that last more than 2 weeks, then it's the same thing. Psychiatrists diagnose based on symptoms. Worse, its usually what you say your symptoms are, with words and talking. They

I'm a developer and I've seldom or never had any problem with designers. It's cliche to say it's communication, but that's what it is. How? Nothing is ever just handed off. We talk about everything. Not only in meet

Yes I can absolutely relate, way too much. I've already written numerous comments about this and don't care to compose another, but yes. I love programming with a passion still after doing it for over 30 years. But doing it for a

Everyone who is now the age that Ozzy, Slash, and Alanis were when they did the work that made the world pay attention, was born after 9/11. Meaning, in that climate. They were never conscious of a world without the web, Facebook, and

Get an anthology. Someone got me one for Christmas in 9th grade. By the time I finished high school I owned all of them. I don't keep much physical stuff around, but I still have those.

Performance is important, but the point of WebAsm was to have an asm for other languages to compile to in the first place, so we could finally stop making embarrassing utterances like “JavaScript is the assembly language of the Web.”

I switched to Unreal after using Unity for many years, both at my day jobs and as an indie. If I had known what it is actually like to work in Unreal, rather than how the grapevine vaguely typecasts it, I would have switched a long time ago

If it had been an acquisition, I wouldn’t have given it much thought. Maybe a pause, if I read some of the comments here about IronSource’s reputation. A MERGER sends an entirely different message. Two messages. One, that unity is in dire s

If you’re capable of developing a game at all, I wager you’re capable of learning enough C++. But Blueprints are the first-class citizens these days. The most advanced visual programming solution I’ve ever seen, and a joy to use.

I tried to maintain one many years ago, but I could never get in the habit of being consistent about it. So it was short-lived and didn't get much use. I do refer directly to past code all the time, and that serves me fine.
