Hmm, personally I'm ok with the free form posting + reply format the community has evolved. No need to change anything. Keep bureaucracy at bay!

I've looked off and on into using App Engine's Java interface. But even the "hello world" app looked much more bureaucratic than the Python equivalent (it's due to Google trying to do things the Java way). Do you still have to deal with Jav

Real men/women run a C program doing floating-point divisions (to peg CPU) while writing random bytes to memory (to heat up caches) to keep warm. :)

My pet peeve is that Eclipse crashes when I set Consolas the default font. Crash occurred within libpango. So I'm stuck with Andale Mono (a decent substitute). I will have to look into it again one of these days.

I second the recommendation to tune the subpixel rendering using your OS's wizard. Both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 make this very easy. The difference is very apparent and worth it.

If "fostering collaboration" means a unifying databases, replacing legacy software etc, then yes it can be close to 14 million. At a previous employer, changing the bug-tracking system was yearlong project.

Am I missing the sarcasm (I'm serious, not being sarcastic myself)? Unless I'm mistaken all Macs have a prominent glowing logo that's visible at all times.

Yep, agreed. My major complaint with Cygwin is the lack of a decent package manager. 'sudo apt-get install' on ubuntu is addictive.

You can't have it both ways. In one breath you want to welcome highly-qualified people to start companies. In the next, you dismiss the concerns of such people about having to leave in two weeks if the business fails after two years without
