I like capability separation with tags, though typeclasses are weird, higher-kinded types are not supported and implicits are weird.

No tree style tabs is a total no go. Brave and Chrome do not support tst. I don't like BAT crap either. Re WEI. I'm afraid that many websites will start demanding it.

I totally agree with your way of thinking, that's the only way to stay sane. But this green men circus makes me really uncomfortable at this point. I kinda want to believe.

Based on what we know it's highly unlikely/impossible but what if you don't have to accelerate?..

    by pshirshov 3y ago

LTE and 5G standards allow end-to-end encryption of the roaming traffic. So, it's by design. If your operator chooses to enable e2e (and usually they do), there would be just two options: block your traffic entirely or let it pass as i

It is a P2P note taking app with some object-oriented modeling capabilities.

In contrast with many others crappy things (Notion, Standard Notes, Joplin, Notesnook, Obsidian, etc, etc, etc, I tried literally dozens of notetaking apps, including some self-hosted stuff), Anytype is, at least, barely acceptable. It can

The sad truth is: it's pointless to talk about that with those who are not used to structures like Either/Result/IO monads. And those who are already know why and don't need such articles.

It is. The "buggy" code isn't marked as thread safe.
16. 616.▲
    by pshirshov 3y ago

Precisely. Is it good that this can happen? No, Java must be more like Scala and push immutability as sane default. Is it a bug? No. Is it possible to "fix" the language and the VM at this stage? Yes, but that would be a new langu

    by pshirshov 3y ago

Again, this is not a bug. There are many, way too many places in standard library which are thread unsafe. Some of these are actual bugs, but not this one. If Java originally moved in Odersky's direction that won't be the case but

This is a broken user code written without any JMM understanding.
19. 619.▲
    by pshirshov 3y ago

That still has to be done ad-hoc and might kill performance for many usecases. This is not a bug, but a specified behavior.

Why "not equivalent"? Both are top-tier workstation options of their times. But... the UX of PowerMac G5 is lot more pleasant and everything feels lot more responsive than on modern Pros. Probably because of lack of signature veri

In my opinion the abstraction is leaky but everything works according to the spec. I might tell you about another "bug" and "invariant violation" which is possible but is not a bug. Try to use Sets or Maps with keys hav

This won't happen (unfortunately) for obvious reasons.
23. 623.▲
    by pshirshov 3y ago

In my opinion this is not a bug and there is no general fix for that without significant overhaul of the whole runtime and standard library. In my opinion the author might need to read the vm and memory model spec and understand that such t

Why don't you buy an EPYC/Threadripper workstation then? Even best M2 laptops still can't compete with hackintosh on dated 3970x
