Yeah. It's like 24fps in film. In 60fps (HD) every flaw is apparent; film props of the wrong weight look fake, and insincere facial microexpressions give it away. Whereas in 24fps (pixelation), creators can get away with more as your b

Many pixel games today take it further by adding shaders, lighting, semi-transparency, HDR, particle effects, etc. so a lot of them share this hybrid old-new look. It's charming if a) done tastefully and b) the animation/art is so

Yes! Thank you. I love the old pixel aesthetic, but today's art should fit today's constraints. Those classic games will always be around, awaiting your next nostalgia rush. Screw stagnation. Likewise, I like old Victorians and Ar

Nice find with the grammar mismatch! Thanks for showing your methods in depth. I also liked the intro bit about knowing how to delve into a system. Seems like hoisting the entire Rust compiler distribution into one brain would be uncomforta

Agreed; editor "slop" is important for UX. A structure editor needs to model a text editor, with all its indeterminacy, to be usable.

Sorry, but that's not how large groups of humans self-organize. Many idealists have tried, but power vacuums don't stay for long, nor are they efficient.

This is truly next-gen. It's going to eliminate so much of the bullshit work in programming. Thanks so much for making it open source. Plaintext must be killed. Long live real structure.

Nah, Lisp is nowhere near the most minimal way to serialize code. It's plaintext, so it's denormalized. Something akin to bincode is the most minimal. But that requires a non-plaintext editor...

Sometime around 7. At the public library, I found a book titled "How To Make Games." It went through the design and implementation of a text adventure game in BASIC, with a full program listing in the back. I discovered that our f

It's unfortunate, but bikeshedding will always be with us so long as there is no model-presentation separation of source code. That lapse allows all these pointless[1] arguments to continue. Take an online store. In its database, you w

Possibly like this: http://discuss.rust-lang.org/t/pre-rfc-placement-box-with-pl... It looks like it'll be supported first-class for 1.0. By my guess we'll be writing things like this: // NOTE
