Both the noise and sight of drones is unpleasant. I can't imagine rich people wanting a stream of drones flying over their homes. One more thing poor people will have to put up with in the future.

When will humanity have enough sensors and computing power to give a similar forecast that Dark Sky provides today, but 7 days in advance? What will that system look like? It seems like it is a mostly matter of time, but I just don't

This is only interesting to think about, but this nuanced level of logic would not actually ever be programmed into self driving cars. Once you go past the avoid hitting things level, lawsuits from many vectors come into play, and high ris

Don't people travel? I have lived all over the country and currently love living in San Diego because I can visit areas of the country enjoying the seasons for a week at a time. A week of raking leaves, a week of shoveling and scrapi

The networked transportation sensor suite is insanely valuable and it seems to completely be overlooked by both competitors and investors. Between this, the energy storage business, and obviously the vehicles, I am excited to see what they

As Anderson mentions in the talk, these features are rolled out in regular opt-in updates. Updates are not happening behind the scenes at some random time, although the article seems to imply that might be the case.

As Sterling Anderson mentions at the beginning of his talk, all updates are opt-in. There isn't anything "Secret" about that part. Video: http://events.technologyreview.com/emtech/digital/16/vi

This article takes a lot of liberty in promoting the idea that "secret updates" are actually a thing. Sterling Anderson simply says “We will often install an ‘inert’ feature on all our vehicles worldwide,” And from that, the auth

Why would you want to use a credit card over cash, or checks? There are certain advantages. Not in all cases, but having it as an additional option may afford additional security, anonymity, and faster transactions.

The barrier to entry is the annual $100 developer fee, not the percentage of sales. I honestly wouldn't mind this fee being much much higher if the eliminated a lot of the crummy apps from the store.

This comes across as though they never intended to make an app for the app store and all along just wanted to call out apple on their term sheet. It is purely a moral stance. Which is fine, but the article is slanted differently.
