I wish Coursera followed the Udacity model. I always find out about these classes after they're already weeks in progress or over.

idk. I think the reason there are so many overzealous investors is because google does feel a bit like Apple ~2005. If they have a hit product all their own, they seem to be set up perfectly to dominant in a variety of industries. I can ima

Microsoft can't just copy Google and pretend that they're relevant. Playing second fiddle to Google is a pretty damning place for Microsoft to be.

I think GOOG will fall back down to earth eventually. I'm not sure why Glass and self-driving cars seem to be driving it up. They seem like very long term projects and they're bound to have plenty of competition.

Oh come on, you can slight Kurzweil for his whacky futurist theories, but allowing him to work with Knowledge graph seems like a tremendous use of his talents. His insights (and accomplishments) in machine learning aren't to be taken lightl

"Google Now, a voice-activated search assistant, launched on iPhone this week" I listen to marketplace every day, and they always seem to make mistakes like this when talking about technology.

"The Google X people have been dropping hints about some sort of Control Systems thing...." Wasn't there suppose to be an X labs announcement this month? Maybe they're saving it for I/O. There is a ton of potential for Google Now to functio

Do you just not like the name? As voidlogic points out, it's basically a generic account for Google services. There's a potential to engage socially, but you don't have to.

I'm pretty sure Google made G+ to integrate better with products like Glass, which are only just starting to pick up steam. This video helped clarify why Google would invest so much into Google+ : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMY-iNnqUIo

I know what duckduckgo is. It's antithetical to the concept of Google Now, so I'm not sure why it's relevant.

Yep, they don't offer any huge incentive to switch. Google has a much more robust search and as an android user I actually like the integration into Now.

I'm willing to bet that they'll have some android integration announcements at I/O. The Motorola phones are suppose to have touch controls on the back, which would be a pretty convenient way to interact with glass.

Exactly. How terrible will this be when you're not in the mood to socialize or when something discouraging happens in your social life? This has a good use case for 10% of smartphone users maybe 80% of the time. I'm going to predict that th

They announced that Google Reader would be shut down in June, but that you can export all your content and settings to other services. Bloggers, journalists, and internet commenters started crying like 5-year-old children.

Wouldn't it make more sense to not pay for your email, calendar and everything else and wait until Google warns you and gives you months to migrate all of your data to a competing service?
