I was a welder for 8 years before I went back to school. Graduated at 29. I somehow snagged a developer position in April. It has worked out well so far. Welding can be very fulfilling work but it didn't quite scratch the intellectual

I prefer early returns. It avoids nesting when checking preconditions. However, the function must always return the same type.
