Don't get too worked up. High cost of living plus high taxes mean your take home pay is considerably lower than what you get in the USA.

This makes no sense, Ron usually takes the freedom / libertarian angle on things. I'm sure there's some nefarious reason for their stand (campaign dollars?). sigh wish there was a way to 'hack' politics...

Not trying to thread dump, but I see more practicality from learning Clojure. You'll get a wealth of libraries and an active community to help you on your journey. That said, if you want to learn CL for fun, that is understandable (heck, I

Like someone stated, it's a dev tool that will not likely need to be bundled with your end product. I use Emacs, which is also GPL, as do other people, with no hinderance from a license point of view. If I were doing Light Table, I'd use GP

As others have said, I would check out CloudFoundry. It is open-source & extensible. I do exactly what you describe on a VPS in the cloud. I host my own prototype projects on a CloudFoundry instance. So far I've deployed these types of

meh. most IT workers are classified as exempt anyways using any of a number of loopholes. The most common of which is making the employee a 'manager' which means they can't qualify for overtime pay. Nice to see my state's Senator as a spons

"I don't blame this on Android phones or users, however." I am forced to call you out on this misinformation. It is the Android _phones_ and _users_. Android based platforms like the Nook Color and Amazon Fire both have good app revenue i

So I get that you misunderstood the original intent. But that's not gonna stop me from a small rant on writing a tech book. In a word: don't do it unless you really know what you're getting into. Writing an average/mediocre book is a mass

i gave up on watching/reading the traditional news outlets years ago, which today seem more like the yellow journalism of days past. I prefer to read news from slightly more factual, and less sensational, outlets like Reuters and BBC. Note

This article is both superficial and ignorant. Here's some things to consider. at&t has: * an enormous cost structure * consistent erosion of its landline business * adjusted ARPU growth in CY2011 * massive investment expense for both

There's one thing that everyone has missed so far, and I've said it to anyone who will listen: free apps are undermining both the app store(s) and the developer. Before you brush me off as crazy, please think it through...

I spilled my beer while reading this article. As someone who worked in the "Death Star"(TM), I can tell you what the other commenters in this thread have already stated, but I'd rather make some vague generalizations. Firstly, at&t is h

must be nice to have such a large pool of people to interview to fit your needs perfectly, especially for technical people. The OP's points are valid and I feel the same way about _almost_ all of them. Even when I worked in the large corpor

Thanks for digging up that info. Was just about to reach for my favourite search engine to find evidence that Hollywood, in fact, is not dying. Regardless of the sensationalist title of the article, I agree with it's point of view.

No, actually, SSD's are dropping in price because the flash memory chips they use have shifted from 35nm to 25nm (not 100% certain on those, but it has dropped). This means more chips from the same silicon wafer = lower cost.

I like the concept and the 'innovation' of the Mulberry team. Using Rails-like commands for creating a JS based mobile project is just a small innovation IMO, but the implementation (based on the video) seems well done. I love teams that ar
