Is this more "deGoogled" than something like GrapheneOS? GrapheneOS gives the option install a sandboxed Google Play (and the associated services), but it's completely deGoogled by default AFAIK.

It's a well established term, though. It's been used in academic works for a long time (since at least 1970), and it's basically another term for the notion of "transparency" as it relates to data compression.

But this marketing term has been regularly used in academic papers for nearly 50 years (or probably more), so it seems like it should get a pass IMO. It's also used in the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article on the term "tran

It seems strange to associate abortion as something only the left cares about. It's been a very big talking point for the right for a long time.

I believe most of the offices she called actually required referrals for all initial appointments (regardless of insurance), so I don't think that's a factor here.

I think it's likely simply gotten worse since those studies. A friend of mine needed a specialist. She called multiple offices across two different states, and the soonest appointment available was about 4 months out. Four or five year

I'm still not seeing it the issue, though. A significant portion of the world's population lives within a short distance of a library. Even if each individual library branch serves a relatively small chunk of the population, the c

I don't see why that's an issue, either. A library can already buy multiple copies of books/ games and loan them out. It's not streaming, sure, but somebody with a little patience can avoid buying a copy by just going to

Why is this worse than a company renting out physical copies, though? This is the way games rentals work for physical copies. The renter buys one copy and rents it out numerous times. (It's also the way libraries work for books, of cou

I don't feel like this would be a major issue in practice. People can already pirate, sneak into the theater, etc., if they want to game the system. Most people aren't interested in routinely selling and buying their media, so I w

I'm not sure why people would actively want their game to require either EGS or Steam, though, even if it's convenient. EGS has business practices that drive a lot of people crazy, and Steam has an awful security track record and

It's strange to me, because there's literally more competition in the space, but people are unhappy about it. PC games used to regularly be Steam exclusive for years on end, and now games are often available on multiple stores wit

I don't think it's necessarily the case that interests are aligned just because users are the direct source of revenue. Many services that rely on users as a direct source of revenue still have interest alignment issues for variou
