It's currently working for me. Maybe you were just too fast and hit it before domready had fired? Let me know if you have any more issues with it.

It doesn't. The best solution for that that I could think of was to re-GET the current page and pull the new link out of it, but I'm nervous about doing that since HN is so sensitive about HTTP requests being made in rapid succession[1]. [1

I created this based on how difficult I found it to be to follow conversations here, especially long ones. It's always been fairly easy to keep track of replies to your own comments, but if you haven't commented in a thread or subthread, yo

I sure hope so! I didn't mean to imply that I have it all figured out. But I have to wonder how much a post-college transition article applies to me when written from the perspective of a "traditional" college student. Or at least the type

This is one of the biggest things for me post-graduation. My life has recently been so consumed by achieving one big goal. Once it's accomplished, I just kind of wonder..."what's next?" I mean, I have a big interview at a top tech company o

I just graduated last night, but this doesn't feel terribly enlightening to me. I don't know if I didn't have the typical college experience or if people like the author just tend to be more vocal about their experience because those in my

Good news. I used Carsabi a lot when they first started it since I was in the market at the time. I also emailed one of the guys (maybe OP) a little bit offering to help and he seemed like a good guy. Congrats.

Sorry about the incredibly immature response you got to this. I suppose this is how some people really are when they can be completely anonymous. But it also highlights a problem that you should solve. Making someone submit an email and ver

As someone constantly context-switching between a job and academia, I can't imagine how I would get by without a todo list. Mine is just a plain text file that is always open in Sublime from a Dropbox folder, but without it, I wouldn't be a

That's not what I was saying. I was indicating that more memory accesses would be required in unsorted data for the `sum += data[c]` computation, obviously overlooking that data[c] is already in a cache, and probably in a register as a resu

You're right, that's a pretty careless mistake. Considering that, the only way to stretch this into locality would be to assume that sum would be used in rapid enough succession so as to be able to live in a register instead of go back to a

Branch prediction is not the only reason this is faster and probably not even the biggest reason. Since the array is sorted, if (data[c] >= 128) will evaluate to true consecutively. When the cache requests something from memory

I have to wonder if those posting solutions on github are actually doing it in an effort to cheat. I made a similar mistake recently with a project I completed in my computer architecture course. When the professor contacted me about it, it

Ah, well in that case it's probably partially explained by a lower volume of legitimate email that you get there if you don't really use it much.

Do you mark spam email that you get as spam? I rarely get spam in my GMail, but when I do I mark it as spam. Of course, maybe our habits are just different, but I like to reassure myself that I'm helping the system chug along.

I think bhavin is saying that Gruber's blog posts are Apple fanboyism. I'm not sure how you could deny that they are at least generally favorable toward Apple.

The "just kidding" would probably need to be before I answered. If I start to get up and walk out and then they say "no, I was just yankin' ya!" I'm going to be really suspicious.

I don't think this is much better. I wouldn't work for someone who asked me this question, even if this were the rationale. Who knows why someone would divulge their password. I bet there are reasons other than being completely devoid of co
