It's not a panacea, but it's objectively better than closed-source. Thank you for pointing out that the binary is unobfuscated.

It's possible to set up your repo to have issues disabled, which will get rid of the majority of FOSS's costs. When it comes to privacy/security tools, it makes sense to make it open source, since they usually are given an in

I was able to use Zoom in the browser with my first meeting, but now it no longer shows that option when I access a Zoom meeting URL. What do you do to force it to let you use it in the browser?

There are a few episodes of the anime Golden Kamuy that touch over the lifestyle and culture of the Ainu natives. I've only seen the first season, but it was a very delightful and insightful watch.

A hard-coded IV with AES-GCM is bad only if you're encrypting content with the same key. Since you're deriving keys via a password, that would mean that two Link-Lock URL's protected with the same password _and_ using the sam

Anyone in the tech industry, which is Hacker News' target audience, knows what PWA means. And it's gaining ubiquity outside the industry as well; a search via Qwant (so not personalized) tells you that it stands for Progressive We

Neither clicking on the URL nor hitting the keyboard shortcut to bring focus to the address bar is a destructive action. The URL is still in tact, and you're free to copy it immediately after either action. Let me know if I've got

Indifference shouldn't be surprising for a minute detail. I didn't even know about the feature until I saw this thread (clicking address bar expands it), since I normally immediately start typing once I open a new tab. I'd ev

It's just the HN effect; complain about the most minute details. Firefox simply wanted it to be more obvious that the address bar is in focus the moment you open a new tab.

This would actually be pretty cool if it was made into an open protocol. Let there be a well-known ID for encrypted paywall content, with children divs that specify which search engine's public key it was encrypted with. Search engine

Thanks! I actually brainstormed with a friend later that day on how it'd work and we finally came to a similar conclusion. According to the spec, the phone only generates a new identifier when the MAC address changes or on a new day. B
