It sounds like it compares blocks of 128 bytes, & there's an off-by-one error in the code.

Having media files in there as well, would, I think destroy my antique iPhone 3G! The iPhone app doesn't sync everything - it will download (and separately, cache) only the files you request.

Re-reading this after his sockpuppet outing, it reads even more smug, self-congratulatory & non-ethical.

Rsync doesn't work offline. Trying to send updates only would fail for differing timeclocks & deleted files.

Won't the space taken up by revisions monotonically increase? Deleting files won't free up the space, since the old revision is still tracked. Dealing with gigabytes of files & revisions isn't git's forte.

I think dictionary attacks are a far more common attack profile than looking for written down passwords. Also, pointing out common passphrases is a good way to ensure that passphrase checking makes it into later iterations of password crac

I wonder if there's a way to deconfigure voicemail completely. Someone noticed that on a friend's phone & sort of envied them having "one less inbox." [1] [1] http://a.wholelottanothing.org/2011/04/three-phone-tips-for-...

You're doing all the work of dividing by 7. There are shortcuts to checking divisibility [1] - 2, 3, 5, & 9 have the easiest shortcuts - but 7 is a complicated case, which I'd probably just divide out anyway. [1] http://en.wikipedia.o

Eep! Skipping compression before you encrypt is a bad idea. Using it saves bandwidth, & makes attacks much more complicated. Can Node.js do some compression before it hands off data to OpenSSL?

Newbies can't downvote. There's a karma hurdle to clear before you can downvote, over 200 - I've heard it scales so only the top n users can do so.

You could bypass Dropbox & Elements with a Gmail account - save it as a draft on your desktop, & open the draft from Mobile Safari. I'd (almost) hoped to see a way to edit the iPhone's bookmark file from my desktop machine.

4shared seems to be a bit shaky; it worked in Firefox on Windows, but not on Linux. I posted a mirror on Dropbox, & I can post it on S3 if that doesn't hold up.

A hacker friend of mine hates the arduino board. There are some benefits of working with hardware, even if it's just toys: it's far more accessible to non-geeks, & if it stops working, you can give it a smack & feel better.
