You might check pjscott's comment, sibling to the parent comment. There's a lot more to it, but a bloom filter's already been considered for this.

Oh, I wasn't thinking about having this be a perfect oracle; just a better and smaller first pass (edit:) for CRL, not for OCSP. I got the idea from Squid and the network of caches.[1] That body of experience may be helpful. For shri

Could we use bloom filters on the CRLs, before checking with OCSP? Maybe I should go crunch the numbers on the viability of that.

Reading this makes me think that the Go crypto primitives could use a lot more plumbing; it would make them more useful, and avoid some pitfalls by making it easier to do the right thing.

I'm a bit surprised that Simplenote [1] wasn't mentioned here. It would automatically sync with nvALT. If you're digging further, the relevant keywords are "ubiquitous capture." I first became familiar with it thro

Can you use a bloom filter against the CRL/OCSP, then test possible matches against the OCSP? I don't have numbers handy, but that could potentially improve privacy, speed, and bandwidth concerns.

Reading this, I was surprised at some of the characteristics they use to describe ZFS. Specifically: it's not cluster-able, and that it slows down after a lot of uptime. They seem to know their tech fairly well! I'd love to hear a

Ugh. This works, but it's ugly. There are a lot of automated tarsnap assistants on github; I made one myself.[1] They can do helpful things like allow for daily, weekly, and monthly backups, keeping a certain number of each. (And per

This is awesome! I like how they document everything. Tomorrow, I'm interviewing at a different place, which is trying to deal with their storage issues, and I was going to mention Storage Pod 3.0. So this is very timely for me!
