San Francisco is fun, don’t get me wrong. Compared to New York, it’s boring. I have trouble even thinking about living in an apartment in Mountain View, Cupertino or Palo Alto. Those places are socially dead. Mountain View,

The worst part is Apple forces you to use Objective-C on the iPhone even if better options exist. I created a Lua/Cocoa bridge http://probablyinteractive.com/2009/10/18/Setting-up-iPhone-... that works wonderfully. It considerably cuts do

He is at the first stage of Cocoa development. Learning a new language is fun, and you can create some really cool stuff with the Cocoa frameworks. But once that wears off you are left with Objective-C, a vestigial language that isn't suite

You are right, compared to C++ and C ObjC has advantages. But compared to other langues it has major drawbacks. Here are some reasons I don't like Objective-C (these mostly apply to iPhone dev only) - Header Files: These are archaic and req

It's not an unofficial regex API, It is the libicucore a regex library that is available on the phone. It is even available from the xcode "Add Existing Frameworks" dialog.

I think you can safely say any Flash iPhone app is going to be larger than the Hello World app. The only issue in question is how much larger.

There are lots of things people won't do for any price. That doesn't make them stupid or insane. I wouldn't separate from my wife for $2bn. I wouldn't cut off my fingers for $2bn. I wouldn't murder someone for $2bn. A religious person may n
