That's not something that I have any interest in, but I'm not opposed to it as I know other people have asked about it. A very quick peruse of the Mastodon issue tracker came up with information about this on the ActivityPub level

You seem to be purposefully mixing the two opposing uses of the word "algorithm". On the non-abusive platforms, an algorithm is a fairly simplistic set of criteria that are designed to be useful to the human beings that use a serv

The Trending feature is not pushed into the home (or any) timeline. In the Web UI it sits unobtrusively in the corner of the window and on some apps simply does not exist. It can also be easily disabled. In the discourse about social media,

If a device with a combustible battery has been damaged, or if there is an electrical surge, the same thing could have happened. Whilst in this case it's not the victim's fault, leaving such devices charging unattended is dangerou

I was also Komooted - by Komoot. They brought out ViewRanger, who I had paid money to provide a service. Month by month they removed the features and access that I had paid for, and made the app less useful. I am not sure I can feel any pit

From this year's curl user survey, whilst HTTP/S is the majority use, more than 10% of users are using FTP and WebSockets and 5% still using telnet! https://curl.se/docs/survey/2025-1.1/

In contrast, I stopped submitting bugs there because a forum is a terrible place to find and track bugs. Shame because I knew they'd be fixed by an outfit such as Wube.

It's worth being aware that the developer of the Android app asserts that "...this app doesn't share user data with other companies or organizations" but according to Exodus Privacy this is not true: https://r

...and if the restore process wasn't so fragile. The only time I needed to backup and restore it just crashed part-way through, so the backup process wasn't even doing any validation.

I'd find it useful if I could access my Signal chat logs in plaintext. The software offers no facility to do this on any platform, and on Desktop the programs that have allowed me to take proper backups are (by necessity) a moving ta
