As an aphantasic, I anecdotally do rely heavily on linguistic cues in my memories.

We took our 3 year old to Japan and had a difficult time entertaining them with our usual cop-out: playgrounds. Japanese public playgrounds are few and far between, and when we did find them they were typically old and sad (a swing or monke

Also see AquaGear https://www.drinkaquagear.com/ for a slightly cheaper option ($70 vs $90).

I agree with you. I took a somewhat roundabout way of going to a 4-year (first 2 years), then a community college for a year, and back to a different 4-year (last 2 years). In my experience, most of my community college classmates seemed to

Okay, that's really fascinating that the older NSL speakers don't have Theory of Mind (something typically seen emerging around 5 years old) but the younger ones do.

Book Shop Santa Cruz is one of my favorite book stores. It has such a fun layout and feel for browsing, is usually buzzing with people, and in the rainy-months is a great place to sit and read for a few. The staff are always really kind as

Also, if you can't find a job in a year then maybe you need to lower your standards somewhere. Even as a self-taught, very junior (at the time) engineer it only took me 4 months to receive (competitive) competing offers.

Agreed. In Tabletop simulator Jigsaw Join the pieces fuse together when they're in the correct place. Maybe the white border could disappear between pieces in the correct place - although that might make it too easy if there's onl

Small note: on the clickup comparison item 4 you have a grammatical error. "Upbase have..." Rather than "Upbase has..."

Definitely twitch. It's hard to find quality content, and most of it is game development, but I have found one or two channels that I can sit in on and watch for a while. Cmgriffing has a really chill personality and talks to chat a lo

With modern medicine, people are having children much older now. My mom was 38 when she got pregnant with me, and I have close friends who are 40 and 43 with newborns. So, the window has not closed. As far as other people saying that childr

You sound a lot like me. My best moments of clarity always come from a 2+ week trip abroad, spending less time on the internet and more time with the world and myself. It's taking time to talk to other people and hearing that people ar

Keep in mind that contractors don't receive benefits (health care, dental, etc) and have to pay about 30% in taxes. So in reality, the pay is about equal once you factor in that.

I used to think like this. I was very anti medication, pro meditation and mindfulness, and then it happened to me. After a significant life event, a lot of things bubbled to the surface. I wasn't as in touch with myself as I used to be

I second this. I purchased an older ipad pro, pencil, and procreate for probably around $900 total. I rarely use the iPad for anything else (whiteboarding is the other main use), and joke that it's my Procreate machine. It's still

Small suggestion: put an example photo on the site so if you're on mobile or don't want to upload a document you can still see what it looks like

Maybe you can only see one post per friend per week in the feed, but then you can click into their profile to see the whole of their posts.

I've been using Kagi as my default search engine on my phone to test it out. Honestly, it just doesn't hit the convenience mark. when I search for a restaurant + hours, Google shows the hours in a card at the top of the results. K

I'd like to know a little more and possibly contribute. I come from a design background, but I'm a full stack engineer now so I like to dabble in different things from time to time.

Another suggestion: Tabletop Simulator has a Jigsaw Join 2 add-on that is really great for doing puzzles. They allow you to rotate the piece by scrolling the middle mouse wheel while "holding" it.

When interviewing a while back, I was asked to reflect on my failures. Only then did I realize that failure was not in my mental model of my experiences. I had a hard time thinking of a "failure". It's not that I had never ha
