The USA has already started a long-term decline. Peak was 1998/1999 if you go by peak productivity and real GDP/capita. Unfortunately, not much can be done. We're in a situation similar to that of the British Empire prior to

I worked at a hedge fund for 4 years, and these math questions are irrelevant to market structure. Based on the challenge of most of these questions, I would hazard a guess and say only very recent grads would be able complete these. I'

People forget that companies like Groupon and Zynga are still real businesses. Both are still $1B+ market caps. As someone who went to both IPO lunches, it was a wild time. Throw Renren, and several other companies from that time period int

You know what? I worked for a large tech company (unnamed) a few years ago. There were tons of old people who viewed the younger folks in contempt. It can happen both ways.

Active investing serves a valuable purpose. 10 years ago, everyone wanted to be in the hedge fund industry. Today, it's tech startups. Having worked in both fields, you encounter the same folks running from funds to startups. Hedge fun

This is like the late 90s. Startup bubble. The world is moving to EVs. Not sure how this is a tech startup?

I interviewed for a very senior finance role at a public company a few days ago. The entire group of analysts and managers is based in a southern US state, while the executive team resides in NYC. Pretty crazy, but makes sense from a busine

I think it's important to always have "ideas" handy just in case things go awry at work. We're likely in a shallow recession right now. 260,000 layoffs in the the industry can send ripple effects to other parts of the ec

VC money is stupid. Mark Cuban took VC money at the very last minute. The latest incarnation of VC-backed tech companies leave very little for the founding members.

Boston fell off the map. Whatever happened? It seems like New York, Bay Area, and Austin, TX have become the three large Internet/App tech hubs.

I work at Zynga... The office building is awesome. The amenities at Zynga are still some of the best in the Bay Area. Awesome gym, large basement arcade, and snacks everywhere.
