Isn't the ghost spawn at least somewhat predictable? I think it picks the farthest edge from where you ate it. Also, it only spawns at the edges, so don't eat the ghost near the edge if you're not sure where it will spawn. Ye

Wow, that's fun. I wish I could articulate why the music and dying sound effect are both so great. The gameplay has a great rhythmic feeling to it. It's also really tense. I scream every time that damn ghost catches me. The best p

My intuition tells me that if you need to explain your UI before presenting it then you've probably failed at designing it. Maybe I'm too old school in that "Design of Everyday Things" sort of thinking. Nobody has to exp

Adaptation is one of the gems of Postmodern cinema. I really like what that film did to my brain the first time I watched it. It's hilarious. It's a keen insight into the process and emotional rollercoaster of creative work. The l

If you're not an avid cyclist please take this article with a grain of salt. It's largely understood that disc brakes are better, full stop. A few guys in my cycling group who are still on rim brakes will not take the really fun d

I'd agree with some other comments here that you are pretty far away from rock bottom. Rock bottom is a complete dismantling of your life. Failed relationships (romantic, friendly, professional, etc), lost job, bills piling up, apartme

I'm sorry, I don't like this one bit. > I love and accept myself, exactly as I am. > I am enough. I have enough. > I am in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. How the hell are you supposed to assess

I 100% agree with your criticisms. That was my point. Strava’s main feature is the social element, but they are not really maximizing the leverage they have with install base. Compare Zwift. I can log in and join a group ride at just about

I think you're mostly correct here, but Strava's main selling point isn't the data store and interface (which in my opinion is not great). It's the social feature. I've met a massive community of cyclists: rode with

I love Java. I focused on front-end for 10 years. Starting with motools and IE6, jQuery, into React + Redux. I moved on exclusively to backend development after a few years of the latter. You couldn't pay me enough to maintain a highly

That was my exact experience as well. I think the first time I studied anything with diligence was during a trip, and I've taken that ability with me to current day. I also feel immensely thankful for it. I nearly dropped out of high s

Even if you had unlimited time it’s unlikely you’d become an expert in many things, even if many only means 3-5. I know this isn’t very scientific, but as someone who’s struggled with this same question I would suggest just diving into any

What are the modern, accepted software principle, architectural or design patterns, and security best practices? What is the best source on these topics? I’m not being cheeky here. I’m genuinely interested, because I see these terms thrown

I use socat daily. Nearly all of the microservices we develop have a way to be run locally with all dependent services using docker-compose. The problem is most teams don't provide a way to do efficient local development for their part
