FWIW, it's actually possible to determine driver vs passenger side of the car based off accelerometer data (even in pocket). I actually prototyped an app that used accelerometer data to detect phone usage while driving, and that came u

I actually really like that the power block can be separated from the charging cable now. Yeah the tabs may have been nice, but the base of the cable would always get mashed.

I'd prefer that Google not add this "feature," instead of just issuing a blog post that will go unread by 95% of people, and adding a setting that will go unknown to the same 95% of people. "Oh whoops we got caught. We&#

I understand free transit does not generally work. However, the Salt Lake region is rather unique in the first place, so I'm curious the effects it would have there. It may still fail but I suspect it would be different than previous s

With how bad the air quality is, I'd be really curious about what would happen if all of the region's public transit was made free. TRAX can be packed quite often, but there's still so much more capacity available in the syst

I've done the same but Caps + key to Hyper (cmd+ctrl+option+shift), just to pair with custom shortcuts. But I really love using it for escape. I'm on a 2014 model but not going to the corner for escape is great. Plus I'm abou

If anyone is concerned about migrating to Gitlab for that reason, well, I believe Atlassian is fully bootstrapped and profitable. I personally use Gitlab for my private projects but just thought I'd mention.

As someone unfamiliar with NPM, why does it not lock package names for a certain period of time? Rubygems has a 90 day period, so if a package is completely removed, the name can't be used for that long. That seems like it would help w

I think you misunderstand the role of NPM in this concept. Using NPM ensures that web sites distribute the code to their users. So it doesn't matter if there's only a few hits using NPM, if they are good hits. As the article menti

Do you mean the 4 minute mile? The mile record has been consistently dropping from the 50s until 1999. However, only 10 high schoolers have broken 4 minutes, although 4 have been in the last 3 years. The closest high schoolers have been to
