Thank you for linking this! Went down a 2-hour rabbit hole and it's really scratching some sort of itch.

Their goalpost is now "wow so now the pro-censorship crowd cares about free speech?"

The recent free speech angle many tech leaders have taken has left a horrible, horrible taste in my mouth. An article comparing trust & safety to "censorship teams" made waves all around twitter last night, including andreesse

Surprised to see this downvoted. Competitive programming is a real thing and people really do want to earn a top 10 spot. This takes up space.

If someone were looking for an entry in the "compile a calculator to a stack machine" genre, what would you recommend?

Good catch - You can probably tell which parts I took from Microsoft Windows User Experience [0] and which I built while eyeing my VM. Unsure why there's a discrepancy. You're probably right re: taskbar buttons. https://

No - I tend to not take myself too seriously and was very much optimizing for smiles over "usefulness" or "github stars" so it was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Hey HN - author here. This was my burnout recovery project in April of 2020. Very much a labor of love and a surprising way to realize I still liked programming. I wrote some scattered thoughts here [0] I also "run" this project q

I think there's a distinction between vocational materials (your book is one I should absolutely have to pay for - which is why many places of work have an education budget) and literature. I don't quite know what, though.

Often times it's not flair but latency! I have yet to find a handheld that plays my GBA titles with the same feel as my actual SP, save my Analogue Pocket which has an FPGA.
