The distilled versions I've run through Ollama are absolutely censored and don't even populate the <think></think> section for some of those questions.

Hey Simon - In your experience, what's the best "small" model for function/tool calling? Of the ones I've tested they seem to return the function call even when it's not needed, which requires all kinds of meta

This is my intuition as well. DeepSeek and the proliferation of local LLMs have showed us just how much can be done with relatively light hardware. It finally has me wanting to build a rig for local use when before I felt like the technolog

Have you played with moondream? Pretty cool small vision model that did a good job with bounding boxes when I palyed with it.

Excellent share - nice to see people doing cool things with the tech while not taking themselves too seriously.

I prefer vscode+copilot. It's much cheaper and has all the functionality I want. There's access to 3.5 sonnet, and it can edit/create up to 10 files at a time.

Lots of doomers on here, yet somehow I keep meeting highly technical people still working on interesting things that are in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and older. I think HN probably skews really young and tech tends to fetishize youth, so this is
