Can you elaborate? GP's argument is verbose with a lot of explanations and examples that I agree with. What text encoding and how would it be more efficient?

Thanks for the explanation. As I wrote in another reply, maybe I should try again :)

Well, it's been years (like 15 or so) since I gave it a go, really, so maybe I should try again. But, yes, holding Ctrl and then pressing X and then S seemed too cumbersome for an ordinary operation like saving your buffer (or frame?).

Is it still true that saving a file you are working on is Ctrl-x Ctrl-s? I am sorry but I will take vim's :w normal/insert/visual mode hell over this simplistic but cumbersome ergonomics issue any day. (disclaimer: happy vim

Right, each one of us needs to finish the work before the deadline. I really don't like how we perpetuate assignments to individuals. I suppose it stems from our education system and ticket assignments but I would really like to see mo

Agreed. In my opinion, just goes for show that you need a good team organization/culture more than another tool. While I'm sure a lot of people will find this tool useful, I believe it will also help disfunctional teams last longe

It's weird that the author agrees with their sentiment. In my opinion, duplicating code is never the right answer. Using a different form of deduplicating would be the solution here. Just write a few functions that do the math and then

Since it's basic physics, how much power do you think is required to spin a cubic meter of water at 1g centrifugal force? How much energy is required to do that for a year? I'm pretty sure it's lots :) I think that we just ha

I somewhat agree but there is a lot to be said about "reinventing the wheel", while you are learning. Not only do you get to a solution, you also consider other approaches and discover why they don't work, or work as well. Ha

It's actually the other way around. DST is applied in summer, so people actually want those 17 hours when it's convenient :)

I somewhat agree. I think that Shannon's theorem about information entropy comes into play and AFAIK we are very close already so improvements are bound to be small as we try to get closer and closer to the theoretical limit. Still, I

I don't think it's so straightforward but I guess it depends on what societal structures we are comparing. Considering historical structures I would argue that we currently live in a world much more open to various contributions.
