No, not at all. As evidenced by the very few people who shoot at cops, even though cops have done illegal stuff forever. And how the few who shoot at cops usually are executed on the spot or have super extreme sentences.

Is it really that expensive to run a TLD? Name servers are notoriously long running on ancient spec servers. I’m guessing, if designed well, the registration process could run on lightweight infrastructure. Maybe $1-5k total per year, not c

I tried to leave a comment and it errored out and said “please leave a valid email.” I tried 6 different addresses at prepend.com. It’s weird when sites have invalid email checks.

It does if you lose. If Al Qaeda had toppled the government and institutes the global caliphate, then they wouldn’t be terrorists.

Not really. Check out IRA, Hezbollah, Tamil Tigers, etc. Frequently military or government workers are the target.

Yes, certainly. These are separate issues. Cops doing illegal things does not mean it’s appropriate for private citizens to do illegal things. Compounding the injustice is that probably nothing will happen to the cops, but harsh sentences f

There’s a right to bear arms, not to brandish and shoot them. Nowhere does the Constitution say you can fire on police if you think they are doing something wrong. Especially when you’re incorrect. I think the rule for insurrections is that

> One fired an AR-15 at the police This is what makes this different. There’s lots of gun clubs all over the place. But if a member shoots at the police (or anyone, really) they are going to get the book thrown at them and everyone assoc

I tried it through AT&T and it was horrible. They oversold my area and the traffic was lower priority than phones so most of the time it was busy and latency would be seconds. My kids were furious. I wouldn’t want anything on the same s

Encryption is used to remain private in ones comings and goings and communication. It’s not the same as gps, but it’s similar. If you can decrypt someone’s communications, you can more easily determine their location.

Comically I only know about 10 commands in vim and I’ve been using it for 30+ years. Qwxdypa$0 will get you pretty far in life. I don’t use it as an IDE, I use it 5-10/year to read or edit a random file. I probably wouldn’t remember “g

There’s certainly luck involved, but it’s not random. Why aren’t there more Elon Musks? It’s not like the universe just picks a rando every 1000 years and it’s Elon Musk now and Mansa Musa last time. I think similarly, there are random elem

Where is an IQ test illegal? I remember taking one for my first job in Florida, but the company stopped because it wasn’t a useful signal. IQ is correlated to many things (eg, income) but I’m not sure about job performance. Maybe for some i

But a robot is much better than a human for these tasks. I feel uncomfortable paying a person to come to my house every day and clean. But a soulless robot, I don’t mind. Same for an in house private chef. Etc etc. Also, like 10 neighbors c

I don’t want a crude facsimile. I want a pretty good facsimile that can cook, clean, mow, carry stuff around the yard. I want this much more than a robot lawnmower + robot vaccuum + plus other single purpose automatons.

Is this something there’s a federal lever for by forcing commercial loans to mark to market? So if I go to refi my $20M building and nothing is actually rented for 5 years, I can’t use list price and need to use market price for rent. Or co

Property tax isn’t based on vacancy rate, it’s based on property value. The article writes a bit about property value being based on rents. So a completely rented building pays the same property tax as an empty building with no renters.

I think it may be a meta statement on people who summarize with AI on others behalf. The value doesn’t exist and we’re left wondering if the tool user is making a statement, or messed up, or can’t do anything unless claude does it for them.
