No, roommates aren’t hard to come by. As evidenced by the millions who have roommates. In my 20s everyone I knew had roommates. And it was a good life. Saying a studio or 1 bedroom is required makes this metric pretty ambiguous. Thus my poi

$700/month on car+gas+insurance is certainly pretty cushy. This is a luxury for many people I know. Their cost estimates are much higher than what’s required to live comfortably and save for a rainy day.

I think I have great access. I pay $60/month for gig internet and that’s split with 4 people. I spend $20/month for mobile and buy a new $500 phone every 3 years. I make way more than a livable wage, but spend much less than their

Not dignified. As you can live a dignified life for much less. Thus my point. I don’t know what “livable wage” means with these numbers so it’s not very useful for discussion or planning or measurement.

It’s obviously not required based on the evidence of many people who live and thrive without. $9000/year is a ton more than just having a car.

I don’t think this is very accurate. In my county the “living wage” is $26.50 for a single adult with no children. Many young people I know live on much less than this. This is more like “optimal wage to live alone in my own apartment with

Yes, of course I review everything. I treat it like hiring a consultant. They do a lot of work, but I still review the output before making a decision or passing it on. Sending something with errors to my boss or peers makes me look stupid.

You’d do both because up can. Why mine in Australia when you have the US or Canada, etc etc. The idea would mine in all places where it’s marginally profitable until your capital is fully committed.

Extorting is more accurate. But definitely not invading.

It’s not invading, yet. Just buying or psyopping is more likely than fighting NATO.

I think that’s harder than just buying/hypnotizing/invading/whatever. If we exit the Antarctic treaty, then so will everyone else and there’s multiple competing claims.

It’s definitely easier to mine in Australia. But you can do both. It’s about marginal profitability, not absolute. Do people think we must pick just one place to mine?

Look at the volume of gift cards given. It’s the same concept, right? You care enough to do something, but have other time priorities. I’d rather get an ai thank you note than nothing. I’d rather get a thoughtful gift than a gift card, but

If I give my content away for free, it can’t be stolen. The point of putting up a public web site is so the public can view it (including OpenAI/google/etc). If I don’t want people viewing it, then I don’t make it public. Saying t

While that is true, that’s only a small percentage of drivers. Most Tesla drivers do not pay for FSD at all. About 12% of Tesla owners pay for FSD in one form or another [0]. So even though paying monthly is more amenable, the vast majority

Or isn’t the alternative a local AI that runs autonomously? We’d may for updates and new models, but no need for a subscription. Of course the manufacturer makes more money with a subscription and this is the reason they want it.

Would AI be better at stopping for children jumping out from a stopped school bus so it’s not as necessary to stop with human drivers? That being said, just ticket the company and make them pay. Isn’t this how it works with all moving viola
